The Full Circle Series is the latest offering from renowned South African abstract Artist Catherine Christie.

After a 2 year sabbatical, Catherine Christie’s return to the Abstract art scene was marked with the grand reopening of her beautiful signature gallery in the heart of Hout Bay, and a first glimpse at her newest offering: the Full Circle Series.

In contrast to her earlier works, Abstract Artist Catherine Christie’s Full Circle Series reflected a quite confidence, a strength in form and through minimalism that was only just starting to show through in some of her “Oyster” artworks of previous years.

Now fully developed in the Full Circle Series, these abstract Artworks express less of the fire and chaotic energy of Catherine’s older collections, and demonstrate a more mature and controlled use of form and colour that is at once measured and care free.

Clearly having gained further mastery over her medium, Catherine Christie has created a series of images that speaks not only of Catherine’s struggle and development as an abstract artist and her final contentment within the measure of her talents and finesse of her medium, but also gently parallels her experiences as a woman, single mother and business women, and that final contentment that is reached with acceptance and release.

The Full Circle Series is evidence not only of Catherine Christie’s evolution as an abstract artist into full maturity, but also of her evolution as a woman. It is a coming of age of sorts, coming full circle, if you will!
